Research Focus

Molecular pathogenesis of cancers with a particular focus on brain, breast, lung and pancreas cancers, as well as leukemias and lymphomas. Translational research testing a variety of novel compounds for their anti-cancer activity and mechanism of action.

Research Contributions

Identified novel molecular defects in cancer including first report of p53 mutations in human cancer; first report of a new cyclin A1; first report of a new transferrin receptor known as transferrin receptor 2; Characterized novel phenotype of several types of mice with specific genetic deletions including those with Vitamin D receptor deletion, C/EBP-epsilon and -beta knock-out.

Current investigations include:

Studies of circadian rhythm in cancer, adaptor proteins that work in a negative fashion against cytokine receptors and the neighboring downstream proteins. Molecular defects in a variety of cancers using high throughput analysis including genome sequencing and single nucleotide polymorphic arrays, as well as studying a variety novel drug that have anti-cancer activities.
