Department of Anesthesiology
The Department of Anesthesiology at Cedars-Sinai focuses on providing the highest quality anesthesia care to the Medical Center's patients and works to advance the science of the specialty through research and teaching.
The department encompasses all anesthesiology subspecialties including obstetric, cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, pediatric, multi-organ transplant, trauma and ambulatory anesthesia, as well as pain management and anesthesia research.
Education
The Department of Anesthesiology residency program at Cedars-Sinai has been accredited since 2007 by the Accreditation Council Graduate Medical Education. The four-year clinical anesthesia training program follows the guidelines of the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
The residency curriculum is designed to fulfill all criteria to allow our residents to enter the ABA examination system.
The Department offers a combined Cardiac Anesthesia/ Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care (CSICU) rotation that exposes residents and fellows to the entire continuum of cardiac anesthesia care, providing a depth of knowledge and experience that few other medical centers can offer.
In 2007, Cedars-Sinai established a cardiac anesthesiology fellowship program. We also offer fellowships in Obstetric Anesthesia and anticipate the creation of a Pain Management Fellowship in the near future.
